Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fabiola P. Ehlers-Zavala, associate professor in English (TESOL), is currently the Center Director of Colorado State University’s English Language Center, INTO CSU.  She earned her B.A. in English Language and Literature together with her teaching certificate from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in 1992. She then pursued graduate education in the U.S., and she earned both her M.A. (1994) in English and Ph.D. in English Studies (1999) from Illinois State University.  She has a long career in ESL and bilingual teacher preparation, and her research addresses L2 reading and writing among a number of other areas. She is Past President of Illinois TESOL/Bilingual Education, Past Chair TESOL International Bilingual Education Interest Section and Past Chair of TESOL International’s Nominating Committee.  She is currently the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) Newsletter Editor and serves in a number of other editorial boards.  In the performance of her professional duties, she has visited over 20 countries.

” The Urgency of Media Literacy in a ‘Post-Fact’ World”

Dr. Lauren Bratslavsky is an Assistant Professor of Mass Communication at Illinois State University’s School of Communication, where she teaches in the mass media division. Her teaching duties include media criticism, visual communication, broadcast history, and the senior mass media capstone. She has published articles and book chapters about the history of archiving television as well as representations of race and gender on television. Before graduate school, Lauren was a youth media literacy educator at a community public access media center.
